Richmond recruit Chris Yarran will miss the beginning of the season as he undergoes surgery on an injured foot.
Yarran has worked hard over the pre-season to get fit for the Round 1 clash against his former side, Carlton next Thursday night, but an ongoing plantar fascia tissue injury in his foot has seen the Richmond medical staff send their new recruit to the surgery room.
The former Blue was on track to play against his former club next Thursday night after overcoming a soft tissue injury, but the recent news has been ongoing for a number of seasons.
“Chris has worked extremely hard on his fitness over the pre-season,” Football Operations manager Dan Richardson said.
“While this is a setback following a solid block of training over the past month in particular, the positive is that the surgery has a high success rate, and we look forward to Chris playing his best football for us once he fully recovers.
“At this stage, we expect this to be a six-week injury, but we’ll await further medical advice post-surgery.”
