Brisbane Lions star midfielder Dayne Beams is set to miss half the season according to The Age.
Coach Justin Leppitsch only announced in the previous few days that he was hopeful that he would miss just the first month of the season, but that looks like unlikely with the All-Australian, Best and Fairest winner not likely to return until the second half of the season.
"My brain's saying, 'Oh well, we'll see him in the second half of the year', and hopefully that happens," said Leppitsch.

"You don't want to put any pressure on that rehab, particularly with a tendon.
"Tendons are funny things. Sometimes it's two steps forward, one step back, which it has been over the last six weeks.
"It can improve quickly and we can potentially have him back before that period, but we'll take a very conservative approach."
The Lions open their 2016 campaign against runners-up West Coast at Domain Stadium on Sunday.
