Despite his best efforts, Richmond captain Trent Cotchin won't be playing against the Swans this weekend after not receiving the all clear from the surgeon on his fractured cheekbone.
Cotchin missed last weeks game against the Hawks with the cheekbone injury he suffered against Port Adelaide two weeks ago.
Coach Damien Hardwick says that Cotchin will benefit from the extra week off to make sure that he is absolutely 100% when he returns.
However, Richmond will welcome back at least one big name with defender Alex Rance returning from his two match ban for striking Melbourne's Jack Watts.
DH: (Cotchin) he hasn't gotten the tick off from the surgeon as of yet— Richmond FC (@Richmond_FC) May 11, 2016
It comes as perfect timing with Rance set to line up on Sydney Swans star forward Lance Franklin, who he has endured great battles with over the last few years.
Hardwick also confirmed that out of form ruckman Ivan Maric will spend another week in the VFL to try and play himself back into form after a limited pre-season through injury.
DH: (Rance), we love his energy around the football club, he's an incredible player, one of the better players I've seen in my time— Richmond FC (@Richmond_FC) May 11, 2016
DH: (Ivan) he'll probably have another week at this stage (in the VFL). H's an important player for us but he's not in the sort of form...— Richmond FC (@Richmond_FC) May 11, 2016
