Carlton and St Kilda are reportedly interested in luring GWS Giants defender Caleb Marchbank to their respective clubs.

The former number six draft pick in the 2014 draft has struggled for game time at the Giants, with both injury and form.

Marchbank is out of contract at the end of the season and AFL.com.au understands that Marchbank is a required played at the GWS Giants going forward, despite the interest.

While Marchbank isn't in the team's immediate plans, defender Joel Patfull is nearing the end of his career and Heath Shaw is also nearing the end of his stellar career, despite playing career-best football at age 31.

The 19 year old key defender is currently on the sidelines with an ankle injury he suffered last week and miss the next five to seven weeks.
