Hawthorn is reportedly chasing out of contract Swans midfielder Tom Mitchell according to Damian Barrett.

Mitchell, who has put off contract talks until later in the season, despite outlining that he wants to fight for his spot in the Sydney side.

Becoming a regular this season having played every game, Mitchell is averaging 28 disposals as well as six tackles and three clearances as the Swans sit pretty inside the top four.

The Hawks do have cap room despite their impressive list after offering big money to former Bomber, now Saint Jake Carlisle, where that money has gone untouched.

The Hawks have been linked to a number of star midfielders already this season with Gold Coast Suns duo Jaeger O'Meara and Dion Prestia also on the Hawks radar come the end of the season as their aging midfield looks towards the end of their careers.
