Melbourne has confirmed that tall forward Sam Weideman will make his AFL debut this weekend against the reigning premiers Hawthorn.

Weideman's inclusion poses great doubt on the fitness of Demons number one forward Jesse Hogan for the game against the Hawks, after injuring his knee against the Suns last Sunday afternoon

Coach Paul Roos says the Demons will name Hogan this weekend but still has some water to go under the bridge.

Weideman was taken with pick nine in last year's draft and has played 11 games in the VFL this season, kicking 20 goals.
