Essendon has today announced the signing of midfielder Brent Stanton for next season.

The midfielder has joined his team-mates on the sidelines this season after he was suspended for his involvement in the club's supplements program back in 2012.

Stanton, 30 years of age, has re-committed to the club, along with Heath Hocking, Travis Colyer, Cale Hooker, Dyson Heppell, David Myers and Tom Bellchambers for next season.

Meanwhile, big names Michael Hurley, Michael Hibberd and Jobe Watson, as well as Ben Howelett and Tayte Pears are yet to confirm their intentions for the 2017 season.

Stanton currently sits on 248 games for the club.
